The vents of your helmet draw air over your head – keeping you cool on summer rides. Alas, they can also suck in flying insects such as wasps, bees, flies and mosquitos. GripGrab designed the BugShield Helmet Cover to overcome this predicament.

The mesh cover stretches over helmets of multiple shapes and sizes, pulling tight with a neat drawstring closure. The lightweight mesh allows air to still flow through the vents of your helmet – offering that much needed cooling effect; yet it creates an effective barrier against flying insects that try to make your helmet their home.

Will it fit my helmet?
Please note that this helmet cover is designed for cycling helmets only. Please refer to the measurements in the size chart to determine whether the cover fits your cycling helmet.

Is the BugShield helmet cover windproof and waterproof?
No, it is neither windproof nor waterproof. It is designed to be used in summer as insect protection, without adding weight or impeding airflow through your helmet.

How do I wash this helmet cover?
You can wash it at 30° C in the washing machine, we recommend putting it into a wash bag. Do not bleach, Do not wring, Do not tumble dry, Do not iron.

I'll say right off I had low expectations for this cap cover and was geared up for a return even before seeing it. Pre judging is always a bad idea and I was wrong in my assumption. Turns out to be a near perfect fit for all 3 of my helmets, the POC in the pics, a KASK and GIRO MIPS. The material is just stretchy enough as to leave no slack or pooches providing a very snug connection and clean look. The cinch cord allows you to use the mesh cover on helmets of various sizes, I'm a Med, and shapes and get the same good result. This is all anecdotal and reflects my own experience but I still feel comfortable with a 5 star review. I'll buy 2 more, so as not to be constantly switching out which may negatively impact its durability.

I loved it, used it first time on a 540 km multi day cycling trip. No bugs on my bald head, finally!

Fits well on my helmet and the netting seems relatively sturdy.

Topp, im Sommer unverzichtbar

Mein wunderbar leichter Radhelm hat sehr großzügige Lüftungsöffnungen, die leider auch fliegenden Insekten sehr guten Zugang zu meiner Kopfoberfläche gewähren. Nicht alle davon finden sofort wieder heraus, und vor stechenden Exemplaren hat man jede Menge Respekt! Also Vollbremsung, Helm runter und dann schauen, wo sich denn das summende Kleinstlebewesen befindet...Mit diesem Schutzüberzug ist das Problem gelöst! Die Haube passt perfekt auf meinen Helm und ist optisch viel unauffälliger als befürchtet. Die Belüftung wird dadurch nicht beeinträchtigt, ich kann keinen Unterschied zu ohne feststellen. Im Gegensatz zu Schutzgittern, die im Inneren des Helms angebracht werden, kann dieses nicht beim Tragen verrutschen, wird nicht dem Schweiß ausgesetzt und Insekten können sich auch nicht in den Lüftungsöffnungen fangen, was im Prinzip zur gleichen Panik führt wie ohne Schutzgitter.Kleiner Einsatz, hoher Gewinn bzw. Nutzen, ordentlich verpackt und verarbeitet, seinen Preis wert. Da kann man ja nur 5 Sterne geben!Nachtrag nach längerer Tour: Bei niedrigen Geschwindigkeiten oder im Stand ist schon eine verminderte Lüftung bemerkbar. Das wird aber durch den Insektenschutz mehr als wett gemacht. Einen Hitzschlag wird man deshalb sicher nicht erleiden.

Hält Mücken aus dem Helm, allerdings sieht man dadurch nicht mehr die schöne Farbe vom Helm, da das Netz von außen über den Helm gezogen werden muss. Aber Zweck erfüllt, da mein Fahrradhelm kein Fliegengitter hat. Ich hab's mittlerweile, im Sommer, dauerhaft dran.
