The GripGrab Merino Blend Thermal Short Sleeve Base Layer is the ultimate lightweight insulating layer to wear in the winter and transition seasons.

The unique 50/50 blend provides the well known benefits of merino wool – super soft, naturally insulating and with exceptional temperature regulation – yet it also combines it with the added durability, stretch properties and wrinkle-resistance found in polyester blends.

The outcome is that this base layer is incredibly comfortable to wear against your skin, but it also has great longevity, and will cope exceptionally well with repeat use and frequent washing – the perfect combination for winter cycling wear.

Q&A

How much merino wool is used in this base layer?
This base layer is made of 50% mulesing-free merino wool and 50% Polyester. Combined, they create a durable, easy-care Merino-Blend fabric that will last long and doesn't require special treatment.

Wouldn't a base layer made of 100 % merino wool be better?
Using a higher share of merino wool will certainly increase the benefits of merino wool and feel differently on your skin. On the other hand, this will also require more care and typically increase the price.

Is this base layer suitable for summer or winter?
That also depends on the other layers above the undershirt. A short sleeve base layer is typically well suited for spring and summer cycling, whilst a long sleeve base layer is more suitable for winter conditions. This base layer is well suited for a broad range of conditions, but we do not recommend it for the hottest days of summer and the coldest days of winter.
