The ride doesn’t stop because the road ends... The exploration continues beyond.
The last springtime rides are behind us, and planning for summer rides is in full swing. Not every ride in the summer months comes with +25°C and sunshine though; so we want you to be prepared for whatever nature throws your way.
We have asked Tim Wiggins, our great colleague, to come up with his 'Top 5 Essentials' for a ride beyond the tarmac on a cool summer’s day.
"The SuperGel XC Gloves are the ultimate in off-road comfort. You can ride all day, without feeling like your hands have been battered and bruised by every bump on the trail. The cushioning and comfort are second to none.”
The GripGrab SuperGel XC Long Finger Gloves provide exceptional comfort and grip for off-road endurance cycling. DoctorGel® padding cushions your hands from the rough terrain, while the soft suede palm and silicone fingertip grippers keep you in control of the handlebars and levers.
Don't worry about taking them off to tap out Instagram posts either; the SuperGel XC gloves are touchscreen compatible.
"Knee warmers are the answer to those chilly mornings. For those rides when it is a little too cool for shorts, but not cold enough for full length legs. I find these protective sleeves to be invaluable comfort aids, but they are also small enough to slip off and stash in a jersey pocket mid-ride when I’m pushing up a climb or the sun comes out”
The GripGrab Classic Knee Warmers are both insulating and breathable making them ideal for keeping your knees warm while cycling on those cooler summer mornings.
Temperature is regulated thanks to a breathable brushed fleece fabric. A silicon elastic grip at the top of the knee warmer and diagonal stitch on the rear panel behind the knee together ensure maximum comfort. Reflective logos add to your visibility.
“These GripGrab Lightweight Arm Warmers are a versatile, breathable and lightly insulating accessory that keep you comfortable on those cooler spring-autumn days on the bike, or for that first hour on chillier summer rides”
Insulating and breathable arm warmers, for cycling on cooler spring and summer days or when the weather is unpredictable.
Made from super-stretch, insulating fabric, they fit the body as a second skin, gracefully following every move you make while the elastic silicon grippers ensure that the warmers stay in place. Easy to remove and stick in the jersey pocket if the temperature should get warmer. Reflective logos add to your visibility.
“Lightweight, insulating, soft and durable. I’ve found the Lightweight Waterproof Socks to be a great companion for those damp and cool days on the trails or road; as well as for cycling, I’ve also used them for running and hiking”
The GripGrab Lightweight Waterproof Socks provide protection from rain and road spray, but without the bulk you find with many other waterproof cycling socks. The thinner fabric means you can comfortably wear these socks with your tighter fitting summer cycling shoes, creating a great combination for wet weather or muddy riding conditions – such as those encountered on the mountain bike or cyclocross circuit. The three-layer construction comprises an inner and outer knitted layer, between which is a waterproof and breathable membrane – they are soft, comfortable and durable.
“The Mistral Gilet is a windproof layer of packable protection; great for pulling on to shield your core on those chilly starts and late evening spins”
