GripGrab was founded by cyclists and is still run by passionate bike riders at every level of the company, so we thought there was no better way to choose the best Christmas gifts for cyclists from the GripGrab range than to ask our riders what they’ll be buying – for friends, family and in some cases themselves.
CEO and co-founder
Like most Danish children, I started riding bicycles at a very young age. I recall getting my first yellow BMX and being able to experience the playful freedom it offers to have a toy on two wheels that can also serve as a means of transportation. As a grown-up, I’ve taken up most disciplines imaginable and I currently own a full-suspension mountain bike, a cyclocross/gravel bike, a road bike and a track bike. The CX and road bikes have been used most in 2021, the CX as my go-to commuter rocket and the road bike for racing in the Danish Masters category series.
Every Christmas, GripGrab products make up most of the presents that I give. This year, for any friends who are die-hard roadies on the lookout for the latest inventions to stay warm and dry on the bike, I suggest a set of the Flandrien Knitted Waterproof Road Shoe Covers and a matching pair of Waterproof Knitted Thermal Gloves – personally I love the navy blue option. This is such an awesome and stylish combo and I’m sure they will love it.
A lot of people I know are big fans of our Merino Bamboo Half Zip Long Sleeve Base Layer. One year at Christmas, I gave everyone in my family their own and since then, we’ve often found ourselves dressed like twins at the breakfast table – hilarious. Tip: size up one or two sizes when choosing the product as casual wear. I’m 182cm and wear an XL for a casual fit.
The Lightweight SL Socks are an easy way to add a splash of colour any cycling kit. For my oldest daughter, who is a huge fan of GripGrab socks – especially the colourful ones, they brighten up her everyday wardrobe or basketball kit.
For myself, I will be looking to get a pair of Raptor Windproof Lightweight Full Finger Gloves in pure black. They are great for cyclocross racing and mountain biking – well actually for any discipline that requires an outstanding grip on the bars and a bit of protection from the elements. I think I will get them in all black to match up the rest of my winter kit.
I ride my bike every day, commuting to work. Most days I take the regular road – other days I do early morning gravel rides with my colleagues before going to the office. I also train with a road cycling club – with a focus on being confident riding in bigger groups, plus hill and interval training.
This is good exercise and nice company with other women riders, where we share our experience and join cycling events. At weekends I try to get out on my gravel bike for longer rides with friends or colleagues. I’m not a super-fast rider – and what I enjoy most is the exploring and being out in nature. The social aspect of cycling is an important factor for me. My early morning social rides are my favourites – having the forest and trails all to ourselves and often we get to see the first sunlight: this is the very best start to the day.
The latest new product for my own use is the DryFoot Waterproof Everyday Shoecovers – consider this my pre-Christmas gift to myself. I use these every day on my road commute to work, so I do not have to worry about dirt or rain on my brown suede boots and I do not get cold ankles due to low cut socks. I will definitely recommend these shoe covers for any of your friends and family who are into commuting.
For anyone who is active, I recommend the Windbreaking Long Sleeve Base Layer. This will be great for exercising in windy weather. I also suggest the Merino Winter Socks which are so warm and comfy for all-round use. They’re also really nice to wear on weekends for ‘home-cosiness hangout.’
My fourth gift suggestion is a GripGrab product I will be giving to several friends and family members – the new Freedom Seamless Warp Knitted Neck Warmer; it has the most fantastic stretch and soft feel. It is super useful for daily commutes and morning rides. It’s a perfect piece of kit as it can be worn in so many ways – on a cold morning it will cover your ears and chin – and going home later it can just be worn as a neck warmer. It doesn’t have a typical cycling-sport-gear look – so it can be worn for Saturday morning shopping in town.

I have been racing XC mountain bike for 25 years. Nowadays, I ride everything from road to Enduro, and use my bike to get around town all year round. As my heart is in mountain biking my gift ideas will be off-road focused, ranging from gravel inspired gifts to my favourite products for hardcore trail riding.
The Merino Polyfibre Long Sleeve Base Layer is one of the most versatile products in the GripGrab range. Paired with a long sleeve t-shirt or a shell, depending on the weather, it’s your perfect companion on the trails when the temperature starts to drop. I would love to gift this product to anyone enjoying high paced outdoor activities in the colder months of the year.
The Neoprene Rainy Weather Gloves are the only way to survive the harshest conditions. These are my go-to gloves for racing in extreme conditions, where the only objective is to keep my hands functional. What I like most about these gloves is the supple neoprene material that lets you enjoy full handlebar feel while providing incredibly good insulation, even when soaked in water. Any CX rider would love these under the tree.
How do you keep your feet dry and toasty through the mud fest that is trail riding in the autumn and winter, while still riding in your favourite trail shoes? You put your feet in a pair of these Waterproof Merino Thermal Socks. The ultimate gift for anyone not afraid of getting out and about when the weather turns nasty.
When long winter rides are on the schedule and temperatures drop below freezing, the Nordic Windproof Deep Winter Lobster Gloves keep my hands warm and comfortable all day long. These are for my friends who are serious about their off-season training
The RaceThermo X Waterproof Winter MTB/CX Shoe Covers are my go-to shoe covers when opting for a quick early morning gravel ride over jumping on the turbo. When time is scarce and a quick and dirty winter gravel ride is all I can fit in, these will never you down. Great protection without feeling bulky.
The Windproof Winter Cycling Cap is a quirky little hat that sits perfectly under my helmet for rides back and forth to work all winter long. The windproof fleece does a fantastic job keeping my head and ears warm while the brim keeps the rain out of my face. This is for everyone dedicated to year-round bike commuting.
The Multifunctional Merino Neck Warmer is a tube of lovely merino wool which sits around my neck seven days a week during the colder months of the year. Whether I’m out in town, commuting to work or shredding the trails, it’s a natural part of my outfit. It’s the perfect gift for anyone and everyone.
Besides working at GripGrab, I spend a lot of time riding and racing my mountain bike at elite level. For me, giving gifts is an opportunity to facilitate the active lifestyle of my friends and family, who each have different needs.
My first product pick is the same as one of those chosen by my colleague Mette, and with good reason. The GripGrab Dryfoot Waterproof Everyday Shoe Covers 2 is simply one of the smartest shoe cover choices for commuters. This is the perfect match for someone like my mum, who rides her e-bike to work most of the time and does so in casual shoes. With waterproof and windproof protection these shoe covers will make your day at the office a bit more enjoyable when you arrive with dry feet – no matter the weather.
For cyclists who love to ride at home on the turbo trainer, the GripGrab Endurance Bib Shorts are a perfect gift. These bibs are very stylish and go well with most jerseys in the summer, but they are just as great on the home trainer. They give you ultimate comfort, thanks to the chamois seat pad and the wide elastic straps. These are also one of my favourites for doing turbo trainer sessions in the winter.
On a cold morning the GripGrab Multifunctional Thermal Fleece Neck Warmer is a lifesaver. For anyone like my brother, who spends a lot of hours running, this neck warmer is an essential piece of kit during the winter. The fleece protection and the breathable material keep your neck warm and comfortable in rain and wind. This is also a product I use myself and has multiple wear options.
