Team GripGrab's Tim Wiggins placed 2nd in Denmark's biggest mountain bike race - the Scott H12. Riding for 12 hours non-stop provides a unique challenge for kit selection. These are Tim's 'Top Tips' for the best endurance riding kit...
It might sound strange, but racing for 12 hours is all about comfort. If you are comfortable, then you perform; and if you are performing, then you are riding fast. Comfort is my biggest consideration when selecting kit for endurance events.
I select the summer cap to keep the sun, dust, and overhanging trail debris away from my face. The peak is a valuable shield, and the lightweight breathable design allows perspiration to escape.
I choose the SuperGel XC gloves for long distance off-road riding, because the added DoctorGel padding helps to avoid numbness in your hands, but the lightweight mesh back panel allows your hands to breathe, and allows moisture to escape.
These socks are fantastic. A great subtle design, which doesn’t clash with my garish fluorescent MTB shoes!
This is a great lightweight jersey, which is ideal for hot and humid conditions. The three well sized rear pockets allow plenty of space for food and tools.
This was the GripGrab kit that Tim selected for his podium finish at the Scott H12 MTB Race.
